Many vaping enthusiasts are in continuous awe over the seemingly endless stream of flavor options available to them. With new flavors being invented every day, regular vapers have no shortage of variety.
Some assume the process of manufacturing an e-liquid is lengthy and highly technical—but they’d be wrong. In fact, a significant portion of the manufacturing process is reserved for safety and contamination measures.
Juicemasters follow strict precautions when working directly with e-liquid compounds. The juices themselves are non-hazardous and non-toxic, especially those that contain no nicotine. However, to provide customers with a high-quality product, laboratory personnel take their procedures very seriously.
Most e-liquid labs are kept in immaculate condition. All lab personnel are required to wear gloves, safety goggles, hair nets (even beard nets!), and lab coats. Some facilities opt to invest in anti-microbial surfaces as an additional safeguard.
However, when it comes down to the actual “juice-making,” the process is surprisingly simple. Most major e-liquid manufacturers use certified organic nicotine from organic tobacco grown in the USA and only 3 other ingredients.
1. Propylene Glycol
Propylene glycol, or PG, is a synthetic compound that is water-soluble, non-toxic, and easily metabolized. It is used in a variety of personal care products such as shampoos and styling products. In vaping e-liquids, PG acts as a flavor carrier.
The FDA has continuously acknowledged and recognized PG as safe, even with prolonged or direct exposure. However, as with all chemicals, direct handling is never advised or encouraged.
2. Vegetable Glycerin
Vegetable Glycerin (VG), is a clear, odorless liquid produces from plant oils, most commonly palm, soy, or coconut oil, and serves as the base for almost all e-liquids and vape juices. It is non-toxic and has many applications including cosmetic products and foods.
It is the ingredient which creates the thick vapor and has a slightly sweet taste.
3. Food grade flavoring
The flavorings used in e-liquid manufacturing are food grade concentrations. Combinations of flavors are limited solely by the imagination of the juicemaster.
